Tragedy struck in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State, as gunmen believed to be cultists k!lled Justice Onyekachukwu Elimani just one day before his traditional wedding.
Onyekachukwu and his fiancée, Blessing, were set to marry on Saturday, November 23, 2024, in Umusam, Kwale.
Eyewitnesses reported that Elimani was ambushed and k!lled on Friday, November 22, while walking with friends to purchase wedding supplies. The attack is suspected to be carried out by members of a rival cult group.
In a separate incident, another victim, identified as Double C, was found d€ad at Utagba-Uno Junction. A third individual was injured during the attacks and is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
Following the violence, security forces have set up roadblocks across the area to maintain order and prevent further incidents.
Elimani had recently shared his pre-wedding photos on Facebook on November 13, expressing joy and inviting friends and family to the ceremony.
“Love is not just a feeling; it’s a decision to stay, to give, and to grow together, even on days when it’s hard. It’s the strength found in each other’s arms, the warmth in each other’s laughter, and the peace in each other’s presence. Please family and friends join us on 23rd November at Umusam Kwale Delta State. It’s all about love,” he wrote.
The incident has left the community in shock and mourning.
