The defamation case brought by Senior Advocate of Nigeria Femi Falana and his son, rapper Folarin Falana (popularly known as Falz), against social critic Vincent Otse, also known as Very Dark Man (VDM), was postponed at the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja on November 14.
The hearing was adjourned to January 23, 2025, due to incomplete court filings.
Previously, on October 14, Justice Matthias Dawodu granted an interim order requested by the Falanas to protect their legal rights from defamation.
The court directed VDM to remove a video posted on September 24, in which he accused the Falanas of accepting a N10 million bribe from Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, to influence a legal matter.
Additionally, the judge restrained VDM from posting any further defamatory content about the Falanas on social media until the case is heard.
The Falanas are each seeking N500 million in damages, claiming that VDM knowingly shared false and unverified information that damaged their reputation.
They argued that the defamatory video continues to circulate on VDM’s social media accounts, prolonging the harm to their image.
VDM, through his lawyer Deji Adeyanju, has filed an application seeking permission to appeal the court’s interim ruling.
