Ben Affleck recently praised his estranged wife, Jennifer Lopez, for her performance in the upcoming film Unstoppable, for which he serves as a producer.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Sunday, the 52-year-old actor-director described Lopez, 55, as “spectacular” in her role as Judy Robles in the sports drama.
Affleck appeared alongside his friend and production partner Matt Damon, 54, and current Best Actor Oscar winner Cillian Murphy, 48.
“Unstoppable is a very different movie, but it shares a similar foundation in the passion of talented artists,” Affleck said. He highlighted the dedication of Lopez, along with co-stars Don Cheadle, Jharrel Jerome, and Bobby Cannavale, to the film.
Affleck expressed pride in Unstoppable, noting that it exemplifies the type of projects he and Damon are excited about and believe in, thanks to their collaboration with the right people.
In an interview with Nikki Glaser published in Interview magazine on October 9, Lopez discussed navigating this new chapter of her life with the wisdom gained from her experiences.
“I think my whole life I’ve been trying to prove I’m good enough, and now I know I am,” she said. “I’m giving myself credit and telling that little girl from the Bronx, ‘You’ve done really well for yourself.'”
Lopez also reflected on how she copes with adversity. “We’ve faced many challenges that no one knows about, but you’ve persevered and refused to let it bring you down,” she noted. “Things can change your life and make you want to give up, but I’m not there. I refuse to deny myself everything that little girl deserves.”
Affleck previously expressed how rewarding it is to work with Lopez, saying, “What fun it is to see her excel and work alongside your wife and best friend.”
He emphasized the importance of enjoying your work relationships, stating, “If you don’t like who you work with, it can lead to depression, anxiety, and pain. Conversely, if you love the people you work with, you likely have a pretty good life.”
Lopez filed for divorce on August 20, 2024, after months of speculation about their relationship. The filing coincided with the two-year anniversary of their wedding at Affleck’s estate in Savannah, Georgia, on August 20, 2022. The couple made headlines in 2021 when they rekindled their romance nearly 17 years after ending their initial engagement and postponing their wedding in September 2003.
