A Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, has sentenced Jide Josiah Jisos to six months in prison for impersonation during the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The ruling, issued on October 24, 2024, by Chief Magistrate Hon. Justice Folashade Oyekan, included the option of a N100,000 fine.
Jisos was caught by officials from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) while monitoring the UTME at Brix Academy in Abuja.
According to Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Jisos had claimed to be a representative of a non-governmental organization (NGO) overseeing the examination process.
JAMB officials became suspicious when Jisos could not satisfactorily explain his affiliation and role.
He was subsequently turned over to security personnel for further investigation.
During questioning, Jisos admitted he had no connections to any NGO and entered the exam hall with the intent of helping his daughter take the UTME.
