A devastating fire on Saturday night engulfed and destroyed electronic broadcasting equipment worth millions at three radio stations in Aba, Abia State.

The affected stations—Enyimba 94.3 FM, Rose 101.9 FM, and Legend 98.3 FM—are situated off Margret Avenue along the PZ axis of Aba-Owerri Road in the Aba North Local Government Area.

Although independently operated, the stations share a common building, which exacerbated the damage.

The Abia State Fire Service responded promptly, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby structures.

However, reports indicate that all broadcasting equipment at the stations was lost, rendering them temporarily out of service. Fortunately, no lives were lost.

Enyimba TV and Radio Limited, the parent company of the three stations, announced that an investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of the fire.

According to a staff member, the blaze reportedly began in the television section of the main station before spreading to the radio stations.

In light of the incident, management has announced a temporary shutdown to evaluate the extent of the damage and to implement safety measures to prevent future incidents.

Meanwhile, a fire service official urged large businesses and factories to install fire extinguishers and hydrants on their premises to aid in the swift control of potential fires.
