76th Birthday: King Charles Divulges Unique ‘Festival’ Plans

King Charles will celebrate his 76th birthday this Thursday by opening two Coronation Food Hubs as part of a special initiative.

The monarch will inaugurate one hub in person and the other virtually. During his visit, one of the hubs will host a “surplus food festival,” featuring dishes made entirely from food that would otherwise go to waste.

During the event, the King will tour the facility, meeting with beneficiaries and representatives from food banks, schools, and community groups.

This initiative is part of the King’s Coronation Food Project, which aims to enhance food distribution by expanding hubs, increasing cold storage, and investing in transportation. The project, launched on the King’s birthday last year, aims to reduce food waste and address food needs across the United Kingdom.

Last year, King Charles and Queen Camilla visited a surplus food distribution center near London, where they met with staff and volunteers, learning about the positive impact of repurposing food waste.

This week will be a busy one for the King. On November 10, he will lead the royal family at the annual Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph. The day before his birthday, he will host a glamorous reception at Buckingham Palace to honor individuals from the UK television and film industry.

The event will feature actors, directors, TV presenters, stunt performers, and costume designers, with displays from iconic films such as Titanic, Evil Under the Sun, and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.

The Duke of Edinburgh and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester will join Their Majesties, while the Prince and Princess of Wales and Duchess Sophie are not expected to attend.
