The social media platform X has suspended a new account belonging to Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei that had been posting messages in Hebrew.
The account was suspended for violating X’s policies shortly after it shared a statement regarding Israel’s recent attacks on Tehran over the weekend. Before the suspension, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei posted in Hebrew, “In the name of Allah, the most merciful,” as reported by the Jerusalem Post.
Following this, he also reposted the Hebrew message on his official English account, Khamenei.ir, which is verified and boasts over one million followers.
Previously, Khamenei had his Facebook and Instagram accounts removed by Meta due to his support for Hamas after the group’s attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023.
This suspension comes in light of Israel’s latest missile strikes on Iran, targeting missile manufacturing facilities and other military capabilities on Saturday, which resulted in the deaths of four Iranian soldiers and one civilian. Major General Hossein Salami, the Commander-in-Chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), confirmed the casualties.
Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian stated, “We do not seek war, but we will defend our country and the rights of our people. We will give a proportionate response to the aggression by the Zionist regime,” according to IRNA.
In response to the Israeli airstrikes, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei emphasized that Israel’s actions should neither be exaggerated nor minimized, urging authorities to demonstrate Iran’s strength to Israel.
He criticized the bombings and called for the formation of a global coalition—including political, economic, and, if necessary, military alliances—against what he described as the brutal war crimes of the “malicious Zionist regime.”
