In the video, VDM appears in police attire, referring to himself as “CSP VeryDarkMan,” the “number 1 online police.”
Responding to the video, the police issued a statement on October 26 condemning the misuse of official uniforms and accessories by VDM.
The statement noted that a full investigation is underway to determine the origin of the police gear used and whether he had any authorization to wear it.
The police emphasized that unauthorized use of police uniforms, insignia, or equipment is a criminal offense under Section 251 of the Criminal Code Law and Section 133 of the Penal Code Law, with serious penalties attached.
While acknowledging the creative efforts of young Nigerians, the police cautioned against misuse of its symbols, stating such actions undermine the Force’s values and will not be tolerated.
