In the Gaza Strip, a young girl carried her injured sister on her shoulder for miles under the scorching sun after she was struck by a car, a heart-wrenching scene that has resonated widely.
The plight of the girl, who was trying to take her sister to a refugee camp, caught the attention of photojournalist Alaa Hamouda.
As Israeli attacks on the region persist, the humanitarian crisis continues to escalate.
A video captured by Hamouda shows the displaced girl carrying her injured sister on her back for several kilometers.
The young girl, exhausted from the effort, remarked, “I am very tired. I have been carrying her in my arms for an hour, and I can no longer walk.”
Hamouda reported, “I saw her walking alone, barefoot under the blazing sun, having already covered more than two kilometers with her sister on her shoulders.”
He mentioned that he stepped in to assist the girls, taking them to the Bureij Refugee Camp in his car.
