In a letter to a Manhattan federal court judge, Combs’ attorneys argued that knowing the names of the alleged victims is crucial for adequately preparing for his trial, scheduled for May 5, 2025.
The letter, signed by Combs’ lawyers Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos, states that the case is “unique” due to the number of accusations against Combs, largely attributed to his fame, wealth, and the publicity surrounding his previous lawsuit settlement.
They claim this has led to “a torrent of allegations” by unidentified individuals, ranging from false to absurd.
The motion references the November 16, 2023, lawsuit filed by Combs’ ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, who accused him of physical abuse, rape, and s*x trafficking. Although the case was settled the next day, it sparked additional legal actions from other accusers. Combs’ legal team also highlighted six new s*xual assault lawsuits filed by anonymous individuals on Monday.
The attorneys pointed to a recent press conference held by the accusers’ lawyer, where he claimed to represent 120 individuals with accusations against Combs, including violent s*xual assault and abuse of minors. The press event, which was broadcast on Instagram, also promoted a hotline that reportedly received 12,000 calls within the first 24 hours.
Combs’ legal team expressed concern over the extensive media attention, arguing that the numerous accusations have already damaged his reputation and could deprive him of a fair trial.
Combs, who was arrested by Homeland Security on September 16, is currently facing federal charges of s*x trafficking and racketeering. He remains in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
