Prince William’s Parenting Promise To George, Charlotte, And Louis

This summer, Prince William and Princess Kate offered a rare glimpse into their family life, sharing home videos featuring Princess Charlotte and Princes George and Louis.

The footage, released to mark the Princess of Wales’ completion of cancer treatment, showed the royal family enjoying activities like playing in fields, swinging on rope swings, engaging in card games, and having picnics in the sunshine.

Royal fans were thrilled by the intimate look into the Wales family’s life, and Prince William provided more insight into his parenting style during an event in London on Tuesday, hosted by the NFL Foundation UK.

After trying his hand at American football—something his father, King Charles, had also attempted—Prince William was given three mini footballs to take home for his children. Accepting the gift with a smile, he joked about his “dad’s protocol.” “Never go home empty-handed. Great motto!” he laughed, referring to his habit of bringing something home for his kids after engagements.

During the event, Prince William tried out various throwing drills. “I’ll do some practice at home and see how many windows I can smash,” he quipped, showing his lighthearted approach to the sport.

His efforts were praised by other attendees, including former Welsh rugby player Louis Rees-Zammit, who has recently switched to the NFL. “He can throw the ball better than me. He can get a good spiral on the ball as well, not like me!” Rees-Zammit exclaimed.

Phoebe Schecter, captain of the GB women’s flag football team, was equally impressed. “His arm strength is incredible. I could not believe how far he could throw the ball. He did a great job. Very coachable,” she said.

King Charles received similar compliments when he gave the sport a try in 2022. An American football coach at the time praised the King’s efforts, noting how quickly he picked up the sport.

While Prince William admitted that he isn’t a huge fan of NFL and doesn’t fully grasp its tactics, he mentioned that understanding the game better might change his perspective.

Although American football has been played in the UK since 2007, it remains less popular than in the U.S. Prince Harry, who now lives across the Atlantic, seems to have stayed true to his love for polo rather than embracing the sport.

It remains to be seen if Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis will take an interest in American football when their dad brings home their new toys from the event.
