Ahead of his upcoming TV appearance, Prince William received exciting news: his ITV1 and ITVX documentary, Prince William: We Can End Homelessness, will be available on Disney+ from 1 November, shortly after its UK debut on 30 and 31 October.

This marks a significant moment, as it allows William’s passion project to reach a global audience.

The documentary follows William through the first year of his Homewards initiative, launched in June 2023. Inspired by early visits to shelters with his late mother, Princess Diana, the Prince has committed to creating a sustainable approach to homelessness, aiming to make it “rare, brief, and non-repeating.”

In the past year, Homewards teams across six UK locations have fostered partnerships among public, private, and third sectors to tackle the issue collaboratively.

During filming, William discussed introducing his children—George, 11, Charlotte, nine, and Louis, six—to homelessness, saying, “I am probably already doing it on the school run.

The first few times I thought, ‘Do I bring this up or should I wait to see if they notice?’ Sure enough, they did, and they were in silence when I explained what was going on.” He emphasized the importance of helping children understand the world beyond their own experiences.

Reflecting on his mother’s influence, William shared a memory of visiting The Passage charity with her as a child. “I must have been about ten or eleven. I remember being a bit anxious about what to expect,” he said.

As never-before-seen images of his time there with Diana appeared, he recalled how she put everyone at ease, joking and laughing. “I remember thinking, ‘If people don’t have homes, they must all be sad,’ but it was incredible how positive the environment was.”

He added that the visit opened his eyes to the different lives people lead, saying, “When you’re young, you just see what’s in front of you. But meeting someone who says, ‘I was on the street last night,’ really puts things in perspective.”
