A village in Nyamira County, Kenya, is in mourning following the tragic murder of a woman and her two daughters.
The bodies of the victims, who had left home to visit a relative, were discovered in separate ditches in the Motagara and Gesima areas on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
Local authorities confirmed that the victims, identified as Jane, Edinah, and Lonah, were killed elsewhere before their bodies were dumped in the ditches.
“The women were not killed here; only their bodies were brought back. She had gone to visit her sister when the tragic events occurred,” a local investigator reported.
Footage shared captured the devastation of the community as residents struggled to come to terms with the loss. One grieving villager expressed deep frustration, calling for government intervention in response to the growing violence in the area.
“Five people have been killed, not by illness, but by murder. We are pleading for help from the government. People are being killed mercilessly, and although local authorities are aware, they have not taken sufficient action,” he said.
Authorities have promised a thorough investigation to bring those responsible to justice.
