Meta Unveils New Content Monetization Program For Facebook

Meta has introduced a new Content Monetization beta program for Facebook, designed to boost content creators’ earning potential. Announced on Wednesday, October 2, the program integrates three major monetization tools: In-stream ads, Ads on Reels, and the Performance bonus.

This initiative allows creators to monetize various content types, such as Reels, long-form videos, photos, and text posts.

By consolidating Facebook’s existing monetization options, the program offers a streamlined approach for creators to earn from multiple formats. Previously, only about one-third of creators were earning from more than one Facebook-funded program due to differing eligibility and availability requirements.

Since 2017, over four million creators have earned through Facebook, with the platform paying out more than $2 billion in the past year.

Meta acknowledged that the complexity of its previous monetization programs led some creators to miss out on opportunities or remain ineligible for certain formats. The new beta simplifies this by offering a unified platform with performance-based payouts and easier performance tracking.

Earnings from Reels and short-form videos have grown significantly, with payouts increasing by over 80% in the past year.

Meta has begun sending invitations to one million current monetizing creators, with open enrollment anticipated in 2025. Creators seeking early access can sign up via the monetization tab in the Professional dashboard or Meta Business Suite.

This strategic move aims to empower the creator community, making content monetization more accessible and rewarding.
