In a letter submitted to Judge Arun Subramanian on Sunday, Diddy’s legal team requested an order to prevent potential witnesses from making public statements that could further damage his reputation.
Diddy was charged in September with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
His lawyers claim the accusations against him are baseless and that unfounded allegations, including claims that he used baby oil laced with date rape drugs, are negatively impacting his ability to receive a fair trial.
“Mr. Combs has been the target of an unrelenting stream of accusations from prospective witnesses and their counsel in the media,” his attorneys stated. They also highlighted reports that federal agents confiscated “1,000 bottles” of baby oil from his homes in Miami and Los Angeles, which alleged victims claim he used in sexual assaults.
The legal team cited an article from The Daily Beast titled “Diddy Spiked Baby Oil With Date Rape Drug: Accuser’s Lawyer,” where Ashley Parham, one of the accusers, claimed Diddy spiked baby oil with a drug and assaulted her. Parham is also suing Diddy for an alleged rape she says occurred in 2018, and has accused him of orchestrating the infamous murder of Tupac Shakur.
Diddy has also been accused of organizing “Freak Offs,” elaborate sex performances where he allegedly masturbated and recorded the events. His indictment details how these parties sometimes lasted for days, requiring participants to receive IV fluids due to exhaustion and drug use.
Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges, including allegations of coercing and abusing women with the help of associates, blackmailing victims, and using violence such as kidnapping and physical beatings. He remains incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, with two judges denying him bail.
Last week, Diddy’s legal team demanded that prosecutors release the identities of the alleged victims so he can properly prepare for trial.
They argued that due to his “celebrity status, wealth, and the publicity” surrounding the case, many of the accusations against him are “false to outright absurd.” They believe having the victims’ names made public would help them better understand the charges and prepare for the trial, set for May.
