Police have apprehended a 33-year-old woman posing as a housemaid, accused of stealing over $60,000 worth of jewelry from her employer after working for less than a day.

On Sunday, October 27, Ms. Alice Udey, who reportedly uses several aliases, was taken into custody at the Ikoyi Police Station in Lagos in connection with the theft that took place more than a year ago, according to police officials.

Prior to her arrest, law enforcement conducted a thorough 16-month search, uncovering what authorities believe to be an organized crime ring targeting affluent households in Nigeria.

According to police, Udey secured employment as a domestic worker after being recruited from an agency. However, she allegedly vanished the following day with valuable jewelry belonging to her employer.

The suspect is expected to face theft charges as investigations continue.4o mini
