The Lagos State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has directed the leadership of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries to reevaluate the way its members present testimonies during gatherings.
This directive follows criticism of a viral testimony shared by one of its members, which the Christian body condemned as misleading.
The testimony in question involved an unnamed member who claimed that an elderly man appeared to her during an examination and provided answers to questions, which she later relayed to a member of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries who was also present in the exam hall.
Lagos CAN Chairman, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, denounced the testimony as “an utter fabrication” and confirmed that the church would be summoned for a meeting to discuss such incidents.
In an update during an interview with PUNCH, Adegbite confirmed that the meeting had occurred and that the church leadership was instructed to revise their approach to sharing testimonies in the future.
“We held the meeting last Friday at the CAN secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos. Representatives from the church were present, and we advised them to exercise caution and reevaluate their testimony patterns. Only a madman would think otherwise,” Adegbite stated.
He noted that the meeting included the five bloc leaders of CAN and coordinators from all 57 local government areas in the state, with over 100 attendees. “Everyone was in agreement. We strongly reject any testimony that is unreasonable or misleading, which could tarnish the name of Christ. We completely dismiss it.
“We advised the leaders to ensure that they vet what their members intend to say before handing them the microphone. If a testimony is unsuitable for public sharing, it should be prohibited. God still performs miracles, and we must speak the truth and nothing but the truth,” the CAN chairman added.
