King Charles had a reason to celebrate on Tuesday with exciting news for his charity, The Prince’s Trust, which has undergone a significant rebranding.
The charity unveiled its new logo and tagline, marking its official transition to The King’s Trust Group.
The refreshed logo was designed pro-bono by renowned creative director and former beneficiary James Sommerville OBE, who was supported by the charity in 1986.
Of his role in the redesign, James said: “It is both an honour and a privilege to creatively lead the Trust’s new brand—an organisation that has been so meaningful to me for nearly 40 years.
“The crown in the logo represents His Majesty King Charles III and the legacy he embodies, while the three figures in the crown symbolize a young person at the center, supported by mentors, staff, and everyone who supports the mission to empower young people. It represents connection and community.”
Reflecting on his own experience, James added: “I remember being that young person, helped by others. If this new identity can highlight the importance of support and empowerment, then I feel I’ve achieved something truly meaningful. I hope this refreshed brand, timeless yet relevant, will inspire hope and unity for the next generation, just as The Trust did for me.”
The new tagline, “Working for young people,” reaffirms the charity’s commitment to helping young people build brighter futures through education, employment, and enterprise.
The charity’s name change was first announced in November last year, ahead of King Charles’ 75th birthday, when it was revealed that his organisations, including The Prince’s Trust and The Prince’s Foundation, would adopt new names reflecting his title change.
Founded in 1976, The King’s Trust was established to empower young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Its mission is to help them build a better future through employment, education, and enterprise. Since 2015, the charity has expanded globally with branches in Canada, Australia, the USA, and New Zealand.
The news comes just ahead of King Charles and Queen Camilla’s royal tour of Australia and Samoa, scheduled from 18 to 26 October.
The couple will first carry out engagements in Australia, including meetings with key figures and a community barbecue in western Sydney—a quintessential part of Australian culture. They will then travel to Samoa for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
