Israeli Airstrikes Resulted In The Deaths Of Hamas Leader In Lebanon And Three Palestinian Leaders In Beirut

Israeli airstrikes have killed Hamas’s leader in Lebanon, Fateh Sherif Abu el-Amin, along with his wife, son, and daughter, following a strike on their home in a Palestinian refugee camp in Tyre early Monday.

Hamas described the incident as a “terrorist and criminal assassination,” occurring just days after Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was also reported killed in Beirut.

The attack also resulted in the deaths of three members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) in the Kola district of Beirut, marking the first Israeli strike within the city’s limits.

This escalation has raised concerns of a wider conflict that could involve Iran and the United States.

In response to the ongoing violence, U.S. President Joe Biden has urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to avoid an all-out war in the region, even as U.S. military presence in the area increases.

According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, over 1,030 individuals, including 156 women and 87 children, have died in less than two weeks due to intensified Israeli attacks on Hezbollah.

The Kola district airstrike targeted a multistory residential building, causing significant destruction.

Israel has consistently focused its attacks on both Hezbollah and Hamas officials in Lebanon since the escalation of hostilities nearly a year ago, asserting its commitment to securing northern areas from Hezbollah rocket threats.
