Iran has prolonged the closure of its airspace in anticipation of potential retaliation from Israel following a ballistic missile attack on the country on Tuesday evening, October 1.
As reported by state news agency ISNA, all flights have been canceled until 5 a.m. (0130 GMT) on Thursday, October 3, to ensure aviation security.
Initially, Iran closed the airspace over Tehran, halting all flights until Wednesday morning, October 2, after launching a missile barrage at Israel on Tuesday evening.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran stated that the attack was in response to the deaths of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah, and an Iranian general.
According to Iranian sources, three Israeli air bases and the headquarters of the Mossad, Israel’s foreign intelligence service, were targeted in the assault.
