Benjamin Glaze, a former “American Idol” contestant who gained attention after Katy Perry kissed him during his audition, has been arrested on charges of possessing child pornography.
A Facebook post from the Tulsa Police Department’s Sexual Predator/Digital Evidence Recovery Unit stated that Glaze was arrested after authorities received information indicating he possessed child sexual abuse material.
Following the execution of a search warrant, officers allegedly discovered over 700 images and videos of minors involved in sexual abuse on his smartphone.
Glaze was taken into custody on Friday afternoon and booked into the Tulsa County Jail. He faces a charge of aggravated possession of child pornography and was later released on a $50,000 bond.
Fans of American Idol may recall Glaze from season 16, when he shared with judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie that he had never kissed a girl before.
During his audition, Perry kissed him, which sparked online controversy after Glaze admitted that it made him uncomfortable. He later clarified that he did not consider the experience to be sexual assault.
