An investigative panel, set up by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to examine allegations that cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, served his six-month sentence in a private apartment rather than a custodial center, has refuted these claims.
Uju Agomoh, Executive Director and founder of Prisoners’ Rehabilitation and Welfare Action (PRAWA), and a member of the panel, stated that there was no evidence to suggest Bobrisky stayed outside the prison during his incarceration from April 12, 2024, to August 5, 2024.
“The panel did not uncover any proof that Mr. Okuneye slept outside the custodial center during his imprisonment,” Agomoh was quoted as saying by Vanguard.
She confirmed that Bobrisky completed his six-month correctional sentence with the usual remission in place for such cases. Additionally, the investigation revealed that he was granted certain privileges while serving time.
The panel was inaugurated by Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo in Abuja on Monday, September 30, following the release of an audio recording by VDM, in which Bobrisky claimed to have served his sentence in a flat near the prison.
