Eric Trump stated that Prince Harry’s U.S. visa is secure because “no one cares” about the Duke or his “unpopular” wife, Meghan Markle.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, the former president’s son, 40, expressed disappointment over Harry’s departure from the royal family, saying he has caused “huge detriment” to it.
Despite allegations that Harry may have misrepresented his drug use on his visa application, Eric asserted that the Duke shouldn’t fear deportation if Donald Trump is re-elected on November 5.
“Truthfully, I don’t give a damn about Prince Harry, and I don’t think this country does either,” Eric remarked about the 40-year-old Duke, who now resides in Montecito, California.
He added that his father had a deep respect for the late Queen, noting, “The way she welcomed my father with open arms was, like, beyond.”
Eric criticized Harry for letting his family down by leaving the monarchy and relocating to California with Meghan and their son, Archie, in 2020. He described Harry as a “black sheep” led by an “unpopular” wife, stating that it was “sad to watch” him appear to have “gone off the deep end.”
However, he emphasized that people can differentiate between the royal family and the couple, referring to the royals as a significant symbol of Britain.
Regarding Harry’s visa status, Eric said, “I don’t give a damn if he did drugs. It means nothing.” He reiterated that his family holds great respect for the monarchy.
This comment comes as Harry faces renewed scrutiny over his secret U.S. visa application, with an American think tank requesting its release after he admitted drug use in his memoir, Spare.
The Heritage Foundation has questioned why the Duke was allowed entry into the U.S. given his references to using cocaine, marijuana, and psychedelic mushrooms.
They filed a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) after their Freedom of Information request was denied, aiming to clarify what Harry disclosed about his drug use on his visa application.
