Former US President Donald Trump has issued a warning about a potential ‘global catastrophe’ in light of Iran’s missile attack on Israel.
This warning comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, with Iran launching nearly 200 ballistic missiles at Israeli territory overnight. In response, the Israeli military is preparing for a ‘significant retaliation’ against the shocking assault.
After the attack, Trump, 78, criticized current US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, describing the situation as ‘very close to global catastrophe.’
“I’ve been discussing the possibility of World War III for a long time, and while I don’t want to make predictions—since they always seem to come true—we’re not going to make predictions, but this is very close to a global catastrophe,” he said.
Trump further criticized the leadership in the US, stating, “We have a non-existent president and a non-existent vice president who should be in charge, but nobody knows what’s going on. She was at a fundraiser in San Francisco.”
During a press conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he compared the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran to ‘two kids fighting in the schoolyard.’ He remarked, “This has been really bad, but they have to finish that process, however it turns out.”
Trump emphasized that the recent attack should never have happened and asserted that the US will be heavily involved in the Middle East. “It’s a horrible, horrible war. When is this going to stop? You look at these forces; they shot down almost 200 rockets today. This is not how anyone should have to live.”
He claimed that during his presidency, there was no war in the Middle East and that ‘Iran was kept in total check.’ He added, “They were starved for cash, fully contained, and desperate to make a deal. Kamala flooded them with American cash, and since then, they have been exporting terror everywhere.”
Under his administration, Trump stated, “We had no war in the Middle East, no war in Europe, harmony in Asia, no inflation, and no Afghanistan catastrophe.” He further charged that the current leadership is pushing the US to the brink of World War III, stating, “This is what the policies of weakness and appeasement have brought to the world.”
On Tuesday, Iran launched a barrage of rockets at Israel in retaliation for the assassination of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah last week. The assault, which lasted approximately an hour, occurred shortly after the US warned that an attack was imminent.
