The Delta State Police Command has expressed condolences to the family of 23-year-old Precious Yusuf, whose body was found along DLA Road, opposite Falcon Club in Asaba, on October 24.
According to SP Bright Edafe, spokesperson for the police command, a distress call was received at approximately 8:40 a.m., reporting the discovery of a young woman’s body on DLA Road. Upon receiving the call, the DPO of ‘A’ Division Asaba, CSP Rex Abiodun, promptly led officers to the scene where Precious’s body was found.
Initial investigations revealed that on October 22, Precious informed a friend that she planned to visit a man she had met on the iHappy dating site. She left her home that day to meet him in the Coka area.
The following morning, around 7:30 a.m., she contacted her friend, stating she was on her way home. This was the last contact she made before her body was found the next day.
Her remains have been taken to the mortuary for an autopsy. The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, assured the public and the family that a thorough investigation is underway and pledged that justice will be served.
The Commissioner urged young women to be cautious about the company they keep and exercise vigilance, especially when meeting individuals from dating sites or social media platforms.
