Charles Spencer’s Alleged Girlfriend Takes Legal Action Against His Ex-Wife

Charles Spencer’s rumoured girlfriend, Cat Jarman, has initiated legal proceedings against the Earl’s ex-wife, Countess Karen Spencer, citing “misuse of private information.”

The court filing, made on Thursday, has not revealed further details about the case. Jarman is being represented by the legal firm Simons Muirhead Burton, while Karen is reportedly acting as her own representative.

Charles and Karen, who first met in 2010 through a blind date, married in June 2011. The couple, who share one daughter, announced their separation in June of this year.

Charles expressed his sadness over the split in a Mail on Sunday statement, saying: “It is immensely sad. I just want to devote myself to all my children, and to my grandchildren, and I wish Karen every happiness in the future.”

It was reportedly in March that Charles and Karen informed staff at Althorp, the Spencer family home in Northamptonshire, about the end of their marriage.

Sources suggest their relationship strained following Charles’ public disclosure of the sexual abuse he endured as a child in his memoir, A Very Private School.

Although Charles and Cat have remained tight-lipped regarding their relationship status, romance rumours began circulating in June, after the two were seen together enjoying a theatre outing in London. The pair attended the popular musical The Book of Mormon, with photos showing Charles placing his hand on Cat’s back. The couple appeared to be in good spirits and relaxed.

Charles and Cat, both historical enthusiasts, have been co-hosting The Rabbit Hole Detective podcast since 2023, alongside Charles’ friend Richard. Their friendship began when Charles invited Cat to conduct archaeological digs at Althorp House.
