JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon has refuted claims that he endorsed former President Donald Trump, following a false assertion by Trump on social media.
On Friday, Trump posted on Truth Social, falsely stating that Dimon had endorsed him for the 2024 presidential election.
However, a spokesperson for JPMorgan Chase, Joe Evangelisti, clarified to CBS News that “Jamie Dimon has not endorsed anyone. He has not endorsed a candidate.”
Trump’s post included a screenshot suggesting Dimon, a highly influential figure in the banking world, had shown support for him.
When questioned by NBC News, Trump claimed he was unaware of the post, which remained visible on his Truth Social account as of Friday evening. The Trump campaign did not offer any comment on the matter.
The post appeared to originate from a verified account on X (formerly Twitter) and quickly spread among Trump supporters.
Despite this, Dimon has made no public statements endorsing Trump and had previously shown support for former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley during the Republican primaries.
This incident follows a pattern of Trump falsely claiming high-profile endorsements.
In August, he shared AI-generated images implying that pop star Taylor Swift had backed him, only for Swift to endorse his political rival, Kamala Harris, weeks later.
