A pastor at the Church of The Brethren (EYN) in Moduganari, Maiduguri, Borno State, collapsed and passed away during a child naming and dedication service.
The incident occurred on Sunday, October 6, 2024, as Pastor Vincent Alaku was performing the naming ceremony. He reportedly collapsed with the microphone still in his hand.

Church members have confirmed the tragic news on Facebook.
“We regret to announce the sudden death of our EYN Church Pastor, serving at EYN LCC Moduganari, who passed away after collapsing during a child naming and dedication service. May his soul rest in peace,” wrote Zaphaniah Kwaji.
Tankwa Chokali expressed his grief, stating, “Such a wonderful moment turned tragic in Moduganari. I have never witnessed anything like this! He was performing his duties, and then suddenly collapsed. We are all in shock, pain, and deep sadness. October 6, 2024, is a day we will never forget.”
