The Mexican-Kenyan star and Canadian-American actor went public with their relationship in October 2023, shortly after it was revealed that Joshua had separated from his wife, Jodie Turner-Smith.
In September, rumors of a breakup began circulating when Joshua, 46, attended the premiere of Grotesquerie alongside German model Nastassja Roberts.
Speaking about the split for the first time, Lupita stated that her focus is currently on her cat, Yoyo, rather than any potential romantic interests. She expressed, “My love for my cat is singular. If I’m fortunate enough to be in a romantic relationship again, it will be because of him. I was ready to shut that door and lock it tight. He has made sure that my heart remains open.”
Jodie filed for divorce in October 2023, citing “irreconcilable differences” after four years of marriage. The former couple agreed to joint custody of their four-year-old daughter, Juno Rose Diana Jackson.
At the time of the divorce, Joshua was said to be “heartbroken.” However, just weeks later, he publicly confirmed his relationship with Lupita when they were seen holding hands.
Initially, a source told DailyMail that the couple was taking things slow as they dealt with their recent breakups. They noted, “Joshua has a type, and Lupita definitely fits that. But they are just friends right now; it’s still a bit early for Joshua to start dating again. Could they become a couple down the line?
