A British influencer tragically died after falling from Spain’s tallest bridge, the 192-meter-high Puente de Castilla-La Mancha. The 26-year-old was attempting to scale the structure when he fell at around 7:15 a.m. on Sunday, October 13.
Emergency services, including national police, firefighters, and paramedics, arrived at the scene but found the influencer dead. He was accompanied by a 24-year-old British friend, who was in shock.
According to a Spanish police spokesperson, the man was about 40 to 50 meters up—around a quarter of the bridge’s height—when he fell. The cause of the fall remains unclear and is under investigation by a local court.
A source close to the investigation revealed that both men were climbing without safety harnesses or protective gear.
A passing motorist alerted authorities, and while the surviving companion was initially too shocked to speak, he is no longer in police custody and will not face charges. It is up to the local authorities to decide whether to issue any penalties for illegal climbing.
The bridge, located 90 minutes from Madrid, is off-limits for public climbing. Local councillor Macarena Munoz confirmed that such activities are strictly prohibited, stating, “It is totally banned under any circumstances.”
The influencer’s identity has not yet been disclosed to protect his privacy.
