A 74-year-old woman was tragically found stabbed to death, allegedly by her boyfriend, following a heated argument at a housing complex in Cornubia City, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), a resident contacted them shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024, to report the discovery of the woman’s body during a wellness check.

Upon arriving at the scene, RUSA found members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) already present. Paramedics entered the home and found the woman lying on a bed on the lower level, topless and with multiple stab wounds to her face and head. A blood-stained blue t-shirt was discovered on a sofa near the bed, RUSA reported.

Neighbors told RUSA that they had heard the couple arguing earlier and suspected the situation had turned violent, prompting them to initiate the wellness check. When they approached the house, the woman’s boyfriend allegedly acted suspiciously. A neighbor entered the residence, calling for the woman. After receiving no response, they searched the home and found her body covered with a bedsheet.

“The boyfriend fled after the discovery,” said RUSA, adding that blood was found in the bathroom. It is believed the suspect took a shower and changed his clothes before neighbors arrived.

Neighbors also informed RUSA that the suspect had a history of violence, frequently assaulting the woman when she refused to buy alcohol for him.
