“I am very proud of them, and they are proud of me,” she shared in an exclusive interview. “We are a strong trio of women, and the best way to empower others is by leading through example.”
True to her word, Sarah recently traveled to New York, where she partnered with Sabrina Elba to lead a discussion at the Global Citizen NOW Health & Climate Financing Sessions. Supported by her eldest daughter, Beatrice, she also launched her Youth Impact Council organization.
“I like to listen to those searching for solutions but feel unheard. I observe, listen, learn, and amplify,” the Duchess explained.
Determined to leave a lasting legacy of environmental respect, Sarah is equally passionate about collaborating with the younger generation to drive real change. She was thrilled to work alongside Sabrina and young activist Brianna Fruean at the Global Citizen NOW event, a series focused on tackling global issues through the lens of climate change and poverty.
“Working with Sabrina is special, as she is a millennial, like my children. On stage, we had her, myself—the ‘old bag’—and Brianna from Gen Z, showing a strong example of bridging generations.”
For the past year, the Duchess has been involved with Global Citizen and met Brianna through her work with the Youth Impact Council, which officially launched at Manhattan’s Yale Club last week. The organization aims to foster communication between generations and amplify young voices.
Brianna expressed her gratitude for being part of the panel, saying, “The Duchess was generous with her time, space, and platform, allowing me to share my passions. I wasn’t nervous because I had met her earlier this year at GC NOW in Melbourne, just before her visit to my home in Samoa. It felt like being on stage with a friend.”
During her time in New York, Sarah was particularly delighted to have Beatrice by her side at the Youth Impact Council launch. “I gave a speech and remarked on how, as a mother, you spend so much time attending your children’s award ceremonies, always hoping for family in the audience. It was an incredible honor for my daughter to be there, saying, ‘Well done, Mummy.’ This was one of the most beautiful moments of my life because this is the legacy I want to leave for my daughters and grandchildren.”
