The family reported that both their daughter and the Nissan SUV were missing from their Ohio home around 7 a.m. on Sunday, September 15.

CCTV footage from a neighboring house appeared to show the girl driving away alone, as noted in a Bedford Police Department incident report obtained by WKYC.

Police soon received a call about a child driving east on Rockside Road in a vehicle matching the description. License plate readers tracked the SUV moving east on Pettibone Road. Another call informed them that the SUV was parked at a Target store in Bainbridge.

At the store, police confirmed the young driver had indeed made it to Target. The department humorously noted on Facebook, “Well, I’ve finally found a woman who’s in more of a hurry to shop at Target than my wife. More of a hurry by 8 years.”

The girl’s family contacted the store and safely retrieved both her and the SUV. The department jokingly added, “Not sure what she bought, or if she was even able to use her Target app to save 5%,” and mentioned they let her finish her Frappuccino.

Police stated that the girl is too young to face criminal charges, and thankfully, no one was injured. She did admit to hitting a mailbox, which caused some damage to the vehicle.
