Meghan Markle and Prince Harry hosted a private gathering with close friends at a new bookstore in Summerland, Santa Barbara, on Friday night.
New photos shared by bestselling author and royal style expert Elizabeth Holmes reveal that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry attended the family and friends’ event at Godmothers, which was held the night before Meghan’s panel discussion with Oprah Winfrey.
For the occasion, the couple opted for a coordinated cream look. Meghan wore wide-legged Ralph Lauren trousers with a matching tank top, while Harry was dressed in a linen shirt, chinos, and tan suede loafers.
On Saturday, Meghan swapped her look for an elegant black tuxedo-style jumpsuit from Club Monaco, styled with her hair in a sophisticated ponytail. For the Friday reception, she wore her hair in loose waves with a smoky eye and accessorized with a diamond tennis necklace from Logan Hollowell and delicate gold bracelets.
In addition to Oprah, the Sussexes were joined by comedian Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi.
Godmothers, a new bookstore and social space co-founded by literary agent Victoria Jackson and cosmetics mogul Jennifer Rudolph Walsh, is located in a charming white barn near a beach café in Summerland, not far from the Sussexes’ home in Montecito.
Harry chose the name “Godmothers” as a nod to Oprah, Victoria, and Jennifer, referring to them as his “fairy godmothers” at a Beverly Hills book party for his memoir, Spare. The store features a display of local authors, including Harry’s autobiography and Meghan’s children’s book, The Bench, along with works by Oprah and Ellen.
