Teenage Commits Suicide After Ongoing Bullying About Her Appearance

A 14-year-old girl from Vermont took her own life after enduring relentless bullying at school. Isabelle Vezina-Dykeman was a freshman at the Mill School in Winooski, an alternative high school for students with special needs.

Reports indicate she faced bullying related to her mother’s health struggles, which included brain surgery that left her with a closed eye.

“She was excited about starting high school, full of energy, and loved to dance and ice skate,” her mother, Heather Miller, shared with WCAX.

Miller recounted how Isabelle was teased throughout the school day and continued to receive cruel text messages after classes, mocking both her and her mother’s appearance.

Miller herself had undergone brain surgery, resulting in her right eye being closed. When Isabelle returned home on September 15 visibly upset, Miller decided to give her daughter some time to decompress, thinking it was the right approach.

“I thought I was doing the right thing,” Miller told WCAX. “But in 35 minutes, our whole lives changed.” Tragically, Isabelle took her life that very night.

The Mill School is currently investigating the bullying allegations made by Miller.

“We at the Mill School have been devastated by the loss of one of our students,” the school stated. “We are collaborating with relevant agencies and continue to provide counseling support.”

Miller revealed that Isabelle’s organs were donated, saving the lives of seven people, including a child who received her eyes and can now see.
