During a visit to the Wales Air Ambulance headquarters in Llanelli, South Wales, Prince William expressed his desire to return to helicopter flying.
The Prince of Wales, who previously served as a helicopter pilot for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and RAF Search and Rescue, admitted he misses the job and hinted at joining the Wales Air Ambulance team for a weekend.
“I can’t stop talking about helicopters and medical kits,” William shared. “I miss it all. I’m thinking I might come back for a weekend. I told the Cardiff team I’d join them sometime.”
This decision is sure to delight his eldest son, Prince George, who has shown an interest in aviation from a young age. William mentioned during a Buckingham Palace garden party in May that 11-year-old George could be a “potential pilot in the making.”
The Prince’s visit to Wales came the day after the Princess of Wales announced she had completed chemotherapy. In a heartfelt family video shared by Kensington Palace, Kate discussed her cancer journey and her focus on staying cancer-free, with “a renewed sense of hope and appreciation for life.”
When arriving at Swiss Valley Community Primary School on Tuesday morning, William described the end of Kate’s chemotherapy as “good news” but acknowledged that she still has “a long way to go.”
