Reflecting on his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, the Duke of Sussex shared a rare glimpse into their personalities and the impact they’ve had on him.
“Becoming a father to two incredibly kind and funny kids has given me a new perspective on life and sharpened my focus in all my work,” Harry revealed in a statement to the BBC through his spokesperson. “Being a dad has only made me more driven and committed to making the world a better place.”
To celebrate his milestone birthday on 15 September, Harry plans to host a gathering at his Montecito, California home, where he and his wife Meghan live with their children. He also intends to enjoy a weekend getaway in the mountains with close friends.
Looking back on his journey, Harry expressed his excitement about turning 40, saying, “I was anxious about 30, but I’m excited about 40. No matter the age, my mission remains to keep showing up and doing good in the world.”
Since turning 30 in September 2014, Harry’s life has transformed dramatically. He split from girlfriend Cressida Bonas, left the army, and launched the Invictus Games, which recently marked its tenth anniversary. His decade-long military career ended, but Harry continues to work closely with veterans.
After meeting Meghan Markle in 2016 through a mutual friend, the couple got engaged in November 2017 and married at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on 19 May 2018. Together, they became the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, taking on royal duties and touring various countries.
Their son, Archie, was born in May 2019, and the couple welcomed their daughter, Lilibet, in 2021, after settling in Santa Barbara following their decision to step down from royal duties in 2020.
