The 22-year-old, identified as Wojciech G., tricked staff at the Westfield complex in Warsaw, Poland, by standing motionless with a handbag for hours one evening in October 2023.
Once the staff locked up and left, Wojciech sprang into action, moving from store to store, stealing jewellery, cash, and clothes.
After freely taking items throughout the mall, he still needed to avoid security guards.
CCTV footage captured him leaping over a sandwich shop counter and ducking down as a guard passed by.
He was later seen hiding under a tarpaulin at a bar, where he had stolen alcohol and more money.
Local police reported that Wojciech also sneaked into a clothing store, where he changed his outfit.
He even helped himself to food from a restaurant at Westfield Arkadia, the largest shopping centre in central Europe.
However, his greed led to his downfall when a security guard caught him after he returned for a second meal.
Wojciech was arrested, but after being released on bail, he attempted the same scheme again.
He pleaded guilty to charges of burglary and theft and was sentenced to 16 months in prison by Warsaw District Court on September 11, according to local reports.
