The NFL, Apple Music, and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation recently announced that Kendrick Lamar would headline the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans, Lil Wayne’s hometown.

Many fans expressed disappointment, criticizing Jay-Z, who was responsible for the selection, for overlooking Wayne—a rap legend with deep ties to the city.

In a series of posts on her X account (formerly Twitter) on Monday, September 9, Minaj voiced her frustration, taking aim at Jay-Z over what she saw as a personal snub to Lil Wayne.

She wrote, “Denying a Black man what he rightfully earned in this game, all because of your ego. Your hatred for Birdman, Drake, and me is leading you to punish Lil Wayne?! Wayne, the GOAT! Nola, what’s good?!”

Minaj went on to reference how Eminem insisted on having 50 Cent join his Super Bowl performance, contrasting that loyalty with what she sees as Jay-Z’s lack of support for Wayne.

She added: “Wayne has revolutionized hip-hop, bringing stars like me and Drake to the forefront, yet Jay-Z remains spiteful and evil despite having everything money can buy.”
