A man was caught on camera engaging in a sexual act with a cucumber in a driveway, and police are now investigating the incident.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) reported that the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, September 6, in the Truxton Circle neighborhood, close to Dunbar High School.
The footage, provided by a homeowner’s security camera, was shared on Reddit in hopes of identifying the man to protect local residents and students.
Catherine Baker, the homeowner, expressed her shock after viewing the video. “I was so disgusted and freaked out,” she said.
The video shows the man, who appears to be carrying a lunch box, entering Baker’s driveway and placing a cucumber on the grille of her SUV. He then checks to ensure no one is watching before turning his back to the vehicle and engaging in the act.
Baker hopes to raise awareness among her neighbors and parents, noting the presence of local students and urging vigilance. “I want my neighbors to be aware and keep an eye out for this person,” she said. “There are a lot of kids, including high school students, who walk to and from school. We all need to be vigilant.”
According to Baker’s police report, the man continued the act for an extended period. He moved around the SUV, performed the act again, and appeared to notice the security camera before placing the cucumber back in the lunchbox and leaving through an adjacent alley.
Baker was unsettled by the man’s actions and his apparent awareness of the camera. “The eye contact really unsettled me, and the act continued for longer than one might expect. The fact that he saved the cucumber for later raises many unsettling questions,” she said.
Under D.C.’s indecent exposure laws, any public sexual act for gratification is illegal, with penalties including fines of up to $300, up to 90 days in prison, or both.
Safe Passage Ambassador Vinnia Narh emphasized the need for community safety, saying, “There are children in the area—elementary, middle, and high school students. This is a kid-friendly neighborhood, and we definitely need to ensure he is removed from the area.”
