Louise, who inherited her love for carriage driving from her late grandfather, Prince Philip, looked elegant in a smart tweed coat, paired with a crisp white shirt and burgundy striped tie.
For the marathon event, she switched to a navy jumper, cream jodhpurs, a safety vest, and a riding helmet.
The eldest child of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh has followed in the footsteps of both her late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, and Prince Philip, with her passion for equestrian sports.
Having learned to ride at a young age, she later took up carriage driving, a sport her grandfather was instrumental in popularizing in the UK after he transitioned from playing polo in 1971. Prince Philip represented Britain in three European championships and six world championships in the sport.
In 2021, Louise spoke proudly about her love for carriage driving in the BBC One documentary Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers.
Reflecting on her close bond with her grandfather, she said, “The Duke of Edinburgh was so involved in my driving, which was wonderful but a little daunting since he practically invented the sport. It was amazing to have learned directly from him, and it definitely brought us closer.”
Louise fondly recalled their time together, sharing, “When we went carriage driving, he’d take me on a different route every day and tell me all sorts of fascinating stories. He truly was one of the most interesting people I’ve ever met.”
