Katy Perry: ‘Year-Long Breakup With Orlando Bloom Was A Life-Changing Experience That “Saved” Me’

Katy Perry has revealed that her year-long breakup with actor Orlando Bloom was instrumental in their eventual reconciliation.

In an interview on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Perry discussed how their split in 2017 contributed to personal and relational growth.

Perry admitted that when she and Bloom began dating in 2016, she wasn’t fully committed.

“I was fresh out of a relationship and felt I needed to explore other options,” she said. She also confessed to enjoying the drama of “cat and mouse games” in relationships, but Bloom, who had begun attending the Hoffman Institute for personal development, was not interested in playing those games.

Bloom’s personal growth led Perry to step away from the relationship. “He wasn’t playing that game anymore, and I got bored and just stepped away,” she explained.

However, the separation proved beneficial for both. Perry also attended the Hoffman Institute and found it transformative.

“I had a really tough year, and going to Hoffman towards the end of that year changed my life,” she said, attributing her personal growth to the experience and expressing that she might have been “dead without it.”

Perry and Bloom reconciled, got engaged in 2019, and welcomed their daughter, Daisy Dove, in 2020, showing how personal growth can lead to a stronger relationship.
