Janet Jackson Controversially Claimed VP Kamala Harris Is Not Black, Stating Her Father Is White

Janet Jackson has stirred controversy by suggesting that Vice President Kamala Harris might not be Black, a claim reminiscent of comments made by former President Donald Trump.

In an interview with The Guardian, Jackson shared her views on the upcoming election and Harris’ potential to become the first Black woman president.

During the discussion, Jackson mentioned she had heard that Harris is not Black, but Indian—a claim similar to one Trump made during a contentious talk at the National Association of Black Journalists Annual Convention in July.

When corrected by the interviewer, who explained that Harris is both Black and Indian, Jackson insisted, “Her father’s white. That’s what I was told. I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a few days. I was told they discovered her father was white.”

Harris, who identifies as Black, has stated that her father is of Jamaican-American descent and her mother is of Indian descent.

Jackson also voiced concerns about the upcoming election, suggesting that regardless of the outcome, the country may experience unrest, and she doubts there will be a peaceful transition of power.
