A former Miss Switzerland finalist, Kristina Joksimovic, was allegedly strangled, dismembered with a jigsaw, and then pureed in a blender by her husband. The 38-year-old model’s remains were discovered in February in Binningen, near Basel, Switzerland.
According to Mail Online, her 41-year-old husband, identified by the pseudonym Thomas, had his appeal for release denied by the Federal Court in Lausanne. Thomas had confessed to killing Kristina, and investigations have revealed possible mental health issues contributing to the case.
Kristina, who was the mother of their two children, was reportedly killed following an argument in which she had previously threatened him with a knife. The couple’s relationship had been in crisis for months, with police called on earlier occasions due to reports of physical violence.
Investigators noted Thomas displayed a “conspicuously high level of criminal energy” and showed “a lack of empathy and cold-bloodedness” following the murder, as well as attempts to cover up the crime. They further identified “sadistic-sociopathic traits” in his behavior.
Prosecutors claim Thomas had strangled his wife before dismembering her, as reported by local outlet BZ Basel.
Kristina, originally from Binningen with Serbian roots, had transitioned from modeling to working as a catwalk coach and was involved in training Miss Switzerland candidates.
