The couple tied the knot on Saturday at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens, four years after their original wedding plans were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
One touching photo captures the newlyweds surrounded by close family and friends, including Theodora’s proud mother, Queen Anne-Marie, and her siblings: Crown Prince Pavlos, Princess Alexia, Prince Nikolaos, and Prince Philippos.
The bride looked stunning in a Celia Kritharioti gown featuring a Bardot neckline and a bustle detail at the back. She completed her bridal look with the striking Khedive of Egypt tiara and the Connaught veil, both of which have been worn by four queens on their wedding days.
Theodora and Matthew posed for a romantic photo inside the cathedral, beaming with happiness as they celebrated their marriage. Another candid shot shows Theodora as a radiant bride walking down the aisle.
The couple wed in front of 250 guests, including foreign royals such as Princess Benedikte of Denmark and Queen Sofia of Spain. After the ceremony, members of the public gathered outside the church to catch a glimpse of the bride and groom as they made their exit.
Though Theodora was born in London and has lived in the U.S., she chose to get married in her family’s homeland of Greece. It was an especially poignant day for the Greek royals, who endured a tough year following the passing of King Constantine, Theodora’s father, in January 2023. Crown Prince Pavlos walked his sister down the aisle.
Following the ceremony, a wedding dinner was held at the One & Only Aesthesis Hotel in Vouliagmeni, located on the site of The Stars nightclub, where Queen Sofia and King Juan Carlos I celebrated their own nuptials in 1962.
A pre-wedding dinner took place at the Byzantine and Christian Museum, where Theodora wowed in a chic midi dress with a statement bow at the back. Her honey blonde hair cascaded down her shoulders, perfectly complementing her ensemble, which was finished with a pair of elegant white shoes.
