Mrs. Igiebor, the Nigerian woman who gained attention on August 11, 2023, for tearing her husband’s passport at Lagos airport, has addressed the situation publicly.
In a video posted on TikTok, Mrs. Igiebor explained that her husband’s behavior in Italy, where they are based, has caused her significant distress and impacted her health. She admitted to tearing his passport to prevent him from leaving Nigeria.
She said, “I’m receiving a lot of criticism and insults, including from other women who don’t understand my situation. I realize what I did was wrong and against Nigerian law.
“I apologize to the Nigerian Immigration Service for my actions. My intent was to keep him here because I’ve endured immense pain, both emotional and physical, that has been affecting me deeply. You may not understand what I’m going through.”
The Nigeria Immigration Service has launched an investigation into the incident. If found guilty, Mrs. Igiebor could face legal consequences.
There is also speculation that the incident might have been staged to gain attention for their social media profiles.
