Woman, 31, dead and two children fighting for their lives AFTER ‘suspicious’ fire

A woman has died and two children left fighting for their lives after a ‘suspicious’ house fire in the early hours of this morning.

The 31-year-old was pulled from the blaze with the two girls, aged eight and ten, and taken to hospital but she tragically died of her injuries, police said.

The two girls remain in hospital in critical conditions.

Emergency services were called to the house in Leeds Road in Huddersfield, West Yorks, at 2.24am following reports of a blaze.

Police say they are treating the incident as ‘suspicious’ but are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the fire.

A police cordon remains in place at the property today.
