Amaka Patience Sunnberger, a Nigerian woman residing in Canada, has asserted that she faces no repercussions for her threats to poison and kill Yoruba and Edo people, claiming her status as a Canadian citizen protects her from any consequences.
In a recently viral audio clip, Amaka dismissed rumors of her arrest and potential deportation, confidently stating her immunity due to her citizenship. During a TikTok live session, she remarked, “Someone just messaged me saying I’ve been arrested and am about to be deported. With my passport? I’m a Canadian. Ridiculous!”
She ridiculed the idea of deportation, questioning how such action could be taken against her when she holds a Canadian passport. To further disprove the arrest rumors, she posted a video of her living room, asserting that she was at home and not in police custody.
Earlier, SaharaReporters reported that the Nigerian House of Representatives had formally petitioned His Excellency James Christoff, the High Commissioner of Canada to Nigeria, regarding Sunnberger. The petition, dated August 28, 2024, was filed by Mr. Biodun Omoleye, Chairman of the Nigeria-Canada Parliamentary Friendship Group, and Mr. Tochukwu Chinedu Okere, Chairman of the House Committee on Diaspora Matters.
The petition addresses Sunnberger’s alarming statements made in a recent TikTok live video, where she incited violence against Yoruba and Benin people. In the video, Sunnberger advocated for poisoning food and water sources to commit mass murder and urged people from the South-East region of Nigeria, or Igbo people, to adopt a militant stance against Yoruba and Benin communities in other regions.
