Accompanying a heartfelt selection of photos, originally posted by King Charles and Queen Camilla, the royal couple wrote on their official social media account: “Wishing a very happy birthday to The Princess Royal!”
The photo collage features a nostalgic black-and-white image of a young Prince Charles and Princess Anne enjoying a picnic at Royal Lodge in 1954, as well as a joyful recent photo of Anne smiling at a Buckingham Palace garden party in 2023.
It also includes a more recent picture of Princess Anne with King Charles ahead of his coronation, where Charles is seen presenting the New Sovereign’s Standard to The Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons.
This birthday tribute comes shortly after Princess Anne attended the Paris 2024 Olympics. Accompanied by her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence, she then traveled to Scotland for the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and the start of their summer break at Balmoral.
During the Games, Princess Anne was spotted at various events including rugby sevens, swimming, equestrian, hockey, and rowing. She presented medals at the Men’s 100m Breaststroke final, awarding the silver medal to Adam Peaty, who finished just 0.2 seconds behind the winner.
Additionally, she awarded Team GB’s first gold medal to the winning equestrian team and presented gold medals to Lauren Henry, Hannah Scott, Lola Anderson, and Georgina Brayshaw following their victory in the Women’s Quadruple Sculls.
