South African businessman and politician Kenny Kunene has expressed frustration that South Africans are having to rent houses from Nigerians in South Africa and is calling for government intervention.
In an interview with King David Studio, Kunene revealed that a Nigerian residing in Cape Town owns “800 RDP houses” for which South Africans are paying rent.
Kunene questioned the effectiveness of the South African government, saying, “What kind of government do we have? In Turffontein and other areas, our people are renting from Nigerians. What type of government do we have?”
When the host suggested that this might be more of a policing issue than a leadership problem, Kunene disagreed, stating that it is indeed a leadership issue. He emphasized that if leaders are not ensuring proper policing, then it becomes a significant problem.
Kunene also mentioned concerns about Nigerians involved in drug trafficking in South Africa.
South Africans are particularly outraged because RDP houses are government projects intended for the poor and are meant to be free.
